Intrigued by BREATHWORK, but have fears?

Intrigued by BREATHWORK, but have fears? Let's address some common ones with honest answers.

The explosion of Breathwork over the last few years has led to many questionable marketing techniques and weekend trainings. Which, understandably, has led to fears from those who have never tried it.

Here are a few honest answers to some common fears you may have. Let's demystify this simple yet powerful healing technique.

What if I've experienced trauma before? Will this come up in a session?

If you have experienced significant trauma, please remember that I will always respect where you are at & the pace at which you want to go. We will always proceed gently. Past or repressed memories may be activated, this is something to be aware of.

However, you are in control of this experience & how deep you would like to go. I will be by your side throughout, supporting you where you are at.

Are you experienced? What training do you have?

I have been using Transpersonal Breathwork personally for over 12 years which has given me a wealth of experience in what to expect and what can happen during a session. I have also completed over 450 hours of intensive training, accredited by the Australian Breathwork Assocation. Please rest assured that you will be in safe hands when working with me.

I have anxiety! How will this impact me?

If you suffer from anxiety or have a lifetime of taking shallow chest breaths, the conscious connected breathing may be challenging at first. That is why you get to choose the pace and intensity. As you continue to breathe you may experience different bodily sensations like tingling, warmth or coolness. This is simply energy shifting in your body. Many people with anxiety find Breathwork to be a powerful tool for releasing tension and calming the nervous system over time.

What's going to happen in a session?

As you connect your breathe you may feel emotions coming up, and the idea is to breathe into that, and let it come – explore it, and release or integrate what you can. Sometimes this can feel scary and confronting, but I want you to remember that all of your feelings are ok. They are welcomed and held with loving support.

How am I going to feel?

You may feel sadness, grief, fear, anger, rage, as well as happiness, bliss, gratitude and joy. You may feel deeply connected to your ancestors, have visions and receive messages. Every session is different. Sometimes a session can feel ‘out of this world’, and other times it is very subtle. Whatever it becomes, it is always what is needed.

What if I can’t stop my mind from racing?

It's totally normal for the mind to be active, especially in the beginning. Over time, with continued practice, the breath helps quiet the mind and allows you to drop deeper into your body. I will guide you gently throughout the session, helping you refocus on your breath whenever needed.

What if I lose control or feel overwhelmed?

It's completely normal to have this concern. Breathwork can bring up strong emotions, but remember, you're always in control of your breath and the depth of your experience. We’ll go at your pace, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. If at any time it feels too much, we can slow things down or pause.

What if nothing happens?

Sometimes sessions can feel very subtle, and that’s perfectly okay. Not every session is an intense experience, and it doesn’t mean it wasn’t effective. Breathwork works at both conscious and unconscious levels, so trust that it’s having an impact even if it feels quiet.

What if I don’t “do it right”?

There’s no perfect way to do Breathwork. It's not about "doing it right" but about surrendering to the experience and allowing the breath to guide you. Every person’s experience is unique, and whatever happens in your session is what’s meant to happen for you.
